Hypnotherapy for diabetes

Research studies over the past 30 years have shown that high consumption of added sugar, especially from sugar-sweetened beverages, contributes to obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic illness in Australia with one Australian diagnosed with type 2 diabetes every 5 minutes (Diabetes Australia), costing the country $6 billion per year! Globally 422 million people have diabetes and it’s estimated to kill a staggering 1.6 million people each year making it the 7th biggest global killer (World Health Organisation).

Diabetes is characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood. Blood sugar levels are controlled by insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. When the Pancreas is unable to deliver enough insulin or the body becomes resistant to insulin, the symptom of diabetes will occur.

Symptoms include frequent urination, excessive thirst, fatigue, blurred vision, irritability, slow wound healing, and nausea. The symptoms can be exacerbated by being excessively overweight and/or inactive.

There are many things people can do to reduce their risk of developing diabetes, these include taking regular exercise, healthy eating, reducing fats and sugars, and weight loss. Fruit and energy drinks, condiments, and processed foods like yogurt, bread and soups are high in processed sugar so reducing consumption of these foods will significantly reduce your sugar levels and reduce your risk of diabetes.

Generally, all it takes is making some simple lifestyle changes. However, what is simple for one seems a mountain to climb for others. This is where hypnotherapy keeps things simple. After just a few sessions people change the way they think, feel and behave around food and exercise and make changes that are sustainable for the long term.  Many have even managed to reverse their disease status and become diabetes-free over the long term by making significant changes to their lifestyle.
